Fawell & Fawell Family Law Firm History
Fawell & Fawell was founded in 1984 by Bruce and Terry Fawell. After Bruce passed away in 2004, Terry continued the firm. Bruce and Terry’s son, Alex Fawell, joined the firm in 2015.
Bruce Fawell was a judge for 20 years, from 1964 to 1984, and served as Chief Judge of DuPage County in his final term before retirement. He was the first judge in DuPage County to allow jurors to take notes during trial. During his tenure as Chief Judge, he ended the practice of judges hearing both civil and criminal cases by creating separate civil and criminal divisions. After his retirement from the bench in 1984, he practiced privately with Fawell & Fawell.
Terry Fawell began practicing law in 1975. After working for the DuPage County Public Defender from 1975 to 1980, she practiced family law for the next 42 years. Her career with Fawell & Fawell lasted 38 years, from 1984 until her passing in 2022. Terry was respected by generations of attorneys and judges. She was a mentor to her son, Alex, and was proud to have him carry Fawell & Fawell into its fifth decade.
Fawell & Fawell takes pride in its rich history and the experience that comes with it. We continue to provide the dedicated legal services that our clients have come to expect in resolving divorce, child custody, child support, and all other types of family law cases throughout DuPage, Kane, Will, and Cook Counties.
